Medicinal Laughter

We've all heard that laughter is the best medicine; too bad we can't bottle it up and prescribe it. I wish everyday, just like my multi-vitamin, I could take a laughter pill and just have a good laugh. I mean a good eye watering, ugly face making, gas passing, belly laugh. Wouldn't it be great! For me the two things that I absolutely know I will get a deep laugh from are:

1. Anything involving a bathroom. I don't know why. Yes, I realize I am imbalanced. When my husband (or anyone for that matter) is in the bathroom throwing up and I have to muffle my laughter in a pillow, I know there is a problem.

2. My husband imitating our Russian neighbor. Specifically, him recounting how I made blueberry jam and gave my neighbor a jar for Christmas and when he opened it in front of my husband and noticed mold on the top, (OK, this was NOT entirely my fault, because it was sealed correctly, but I left it in our room with our wood stove and it obviously got heated up and took a turn for the worse and need I say more....) then he proceeded to remove the mold and eat some of the jam right in front of my husband. For some reason this story also cracks me up as many times as my husband tells it with a dramatic Russian accent of course. Maybe it makes me laugh thinking that a bathroom story is on its way next.....???

Anyways, any sure fire areas where you just can't help yourself and you laugh yourself silly? Please do share, so maybe I can find a new area of humor!

That jam story even made me laugh. I'm sad to say that the expression on people who mildly get hurt sends me into laughter. I know, I'm sick!

Diane,
We went away overnight to visit relatives and stayed at a hotel. While there we watched a TV program called "Dirty Jobs" and I'd never seen it before. For this particular episode, it was centered on the buffet food from the casinos in Las Vegas being transported and cooked down into slop for pigs. Included in the food was plastic, hangars, shoes, etc. This guy (the host - I'm thinking) put on a jumpsuit and started working in this slop which now looked like vomit and diarrhea and started pulling out these items. It was so gross it was funny. I started laughing hysterically and Melissa looked at me like I was nuts! I had a great laugh for a half hour!

However, when it comes to vomit ordinarily I can't stand it. Glen has to clean it or I add to it.... Sorry WTMI!

The other that really makes me laugh are the impressions that Scotty does... Have you ever heard him? I practically roll on the floor!

Blessings! KG

I like to save my laughter for highly inappropriate times.... what does that say about me? Hmmm...

I love the funny things kids say when they aren't trying to be funny. Or if a tiny child talks like an adult, that cracks me up.

My boyfriend...he says the craziest thing sometimes. I also LOVE watching stand-up, although it's rare a comedian is so good that I laugh so hard my eyes tear up.

Gosh, that jam story rocks. How totally funny. I would of lost it once I say the guy eat the jam. I wish I could have a good old laugh every day too. I truly believe laughter makes you a healthier person. Thanks for sharing this great post and for stopping by my place.

Hugs
Michelle

I tend to laugh when someone gets hurt. I don't know if it is a nervous thing, or what! AFHV always makes me laugh when people crash or get scared by someone hiding and then surprising them. Ahhh, good times.

The jam story is hilarious. I laugh at any kind of slip and fall. Hopefully, I check to see if the person is all right. I do remember laughing hysterically when my husband fell down a flight of stairs on his rump. It looked like a Chevy Chase scene.

I laugh at inappropriate times, like when I'm having to tell someone that someone has just died (okay maybe I don't laugh but I have to make myself not smile, and it's not because I even find it remotely funny!), or when my child believes her life is miserable for some reason and is giving me all the reasons. These are times I wish I could put on a serious understanding face, but for whatever reason laughter bubbles to the surface instead.
Thanks for stopping by my blog!

I too laugh at highly inappropriate things like when someone falls over but only, of course, if the person is not really hurt. My sister-in-law always laughs when she received or has to give bad news. She even smiles when she's having an argument and sometimes I feel like giving her a good smack . . I wonder if she'd laugh then (lol). Anyway, I'm hoping I'll cause you to laugh or even smile 'cos I'm your 41st follwer. Perhaps you'll make me laugh by being my number 11? Anyhow, drop by and visit my new blog when you have a spare minute . . am loving all that you have to say right now . . .

You know I may have scooped out the top and eaten it too, not from Russia , but understand that we Americans waste too much. I am sure what was below the mold was just ine although you were embarrished. I love laughter too!
would be nice if it were bottled for days like I had yesterday!

I had to squelch a belly laugh when doing yoga in a room full of women last night and suddenly felt gassy. (So laughter wasn't the only thing I squelched!) How embarrassing would that have been? *grin*

Thanks for stopping by my blog yesterday! And you were right, it was War Games. :)
