One Bag of Sugar

Usually I try to buy organic sugar, but for this experiment I needed the five pound bag. I remember hearing about someone likening five pounds on our body (aka FAT) to a five pound bag of sugar and just how heavy it can be. The person had left the bag out, highly visible on the counter as a constant reminder of what 5 pounds can look like. (I was even thinking of adding a face on mine to leer at me.) I know there are some skinny mini's out there, but for those of us that could stand to lose a bag or two I thought this was an interesting idea.
Any other ways that have been successful for you to lose the extra poundage? Please give me something other than the hard work of diet and exercise.

:0)...your post acutally made me smile because I have many more than 5 pounds to loose and I was wondering just how many bags of sugar I would have to stare at...whoa...way too many!!!

Sorry...hard work of a diet and exercise is the only thing that works!!! :0)

Having said that...I find if I eat more protein and less starchy carbs in a day I lost the craving for the carbs and the protein kept me full longer...starch carbs are my down fall, always have been!
Good luck with your bag of sugar...
Cheers

I had to have the stapling, after years of every diet imaginable!
I lost over a hundred pounds.
I say this to say. I try carrying my 20 pound niece around for a couple of minutes and just cant- I hurt! everywhere!

When I was in Weight Watchers, we heard the bag of sugar/bag of flour analogy a lot. It always made me feel good about the weight I'd lost. What really helps me is writing everything down. If I know I'm accountable for everything I put in my mouth, I'm much more likely to stop and think before I eat something.

Gosh, I wish I had a good suggestion on cutting out sugar. Such a hard thing to do. I love the idea of putting it out on the counter so you can see what all that sugar looks like. I've started cutting back on my portion size of food. I use smaller plates or bowels to eat my meals. Then I don't eat as much. It seems to help. Thanks for stopping by.

You probably don't want to hear from me because I'm a skinny minny all my life. In fact, I've had trouble putting on the pounds. I know, you want to delete this comment and me! LOL!

One of the ways I maintain this weight at 63 years old is I have been a vegan for almost 40 years and I walk every morning.

Wish I had more help or encouragement to give you!

I'm very visual so that idea may work for me. It may stop me from going into my pantry and that's a good thing:)

Oh...this is such a good idea! I can't imagine carrying around a 5 pound bag of sugar but I guess that's what my body feels like all the time and can't put it down! Tomorrow's shopping list..a BIG bag of sugar!

I just love how the word "joy" is hanging above your bag of sugar.:)

Loved the sugar visual. Five pounds does seem awfully heavy when we have to lift it. I'm not sure there is a way other than hard work to lose weight. If you discover an answer, could you please let me know.

Five pounds of sugar is heavy but maybe five pounds of skin is lighter somehow?... ;O) I purposely left the word "joy" hanging behind to remind me to be joyful even in this!
