Conversations with My Son This Week

Four babies being born soon. My speciality.... the soccer ball. Not my favorite to make because they're time consuming, but it is a novelty item that every child loves.

"Mom, you are the creator of balls of yarn".... with a big smile on his face. He just looks at me with those adoring, boy loving his mom eyes. He is amazed by my supermom powers to transform mere yarn into balls of delight. My pride temporarily swells for all the adoration and love that a boy can give........ until.......
Conversation number two.

It started out good. We were snuggling, having mom and son time. He's looking down noticing my stomach and here comes the bomb drop..... "Mom, are you sure there's not another baby in there?" He starts rubbing it, looking hopeful..... Can't you just hear my internal screams that are taking place? What should I blame PMS, bad posture, or the two pop tarts I just ate for no apparent reason at all? I just tell him no, I'm sure there's no baby, and then thankfully he moves on to an easier topic..... "Mom, how did I squeeze out of your belly button when I was born"? Hmmmmmmmmm.
Don't forget to scroll down and enter my giveaway that ends September 23rd!

Don't you just love those questions?! I remember well when my youngest son wanted to know ALL the details of where babies come from and how they got in and out of me!!

LOL Don't you love some of the honesty children have? I loved that!

Conversations with kiddos can be a little tricky... my friend has a 4-year-old and that kid can surely ask about this as well as that (sex, pregnancy, being fat etc), and you have no idea how to respond! :D

I don't think he was being insulting. I think Charlie's been rubbing off on him wanting a third :)
You look great!

Kids say the darndest things.....I get the tummy pushing all the time with that question. I'm to the point where I've told them to stop squishing the fat!

Sigh...kids and the things they say! All of mine are older now, but I sure do remember the funny (and not so funny) things they said!

Wow, I admire your creativity with the crocheting. Those soccer balls are great!

I wrote down all the fun and cute things my kids said; they loved me to read them to them when they were a little older.

A lot of kids assume that the belly button is where kids come from. I guess it makes sense...since there is that little hole there!

Those little soccer balls sure are cute. Did you knit or crochet them? Adorable! And the questions...ahh, the questions. ;)

Yea, kids can say the most innocent things that can cause your skin to crawl, your eyebrows raise or your brain to hurt. LOL

This is too cute! Our grandson asked his Mom recently from his car seat in the back if he had come out her belly button or did she sneeze him out of her nose! OMG....the things kids say! They are so adorable! Thanks for sharing! xo

Don't they just say the darndest things? Gotta love em! I would personally blame it on PMS or the bad posture... never the pop tarts! ;-)

Totally without a pattern my mom crocheted countless of those and similar yarn toys! The kids loved her for it. At the craft sales for the grown-ups she always gave the balls away to the kidlets! Oh, the joy that was hers when the kids' eyes popped!

Going down memory lane here thinking about your son's questions, lol!!!

My son is a laugh a minute.... the balls were crocheted. It takes me about 2 1/2 hours to make one. :O)

Well, kids are definitely honest, you have to love that.

You brought back memories of when my 3 boys were that age. Enjoy as later they may have fun with how kids are made.

Yeah, I'm there with you. My son told me, Mom your legs look like cottage cheese. My feelings were so hurt. I told him.

He said, "I'm just trying to help."

That kind of help, I don't need :(

Hi Diane,

Thanks for visiting my blog. I loved this post. What a cutie this boy is, and how very wise. :-) Thanks for today's chuckle.

Love those on the spot questions. Kids are so curious and really interested to hear what we have to say at that young age. Those soccer balls are amazing. I wish I could do that!

Oh my gosh, I'm laughing so hard right now!!! LOL What a cutie. I'm totally jealous of those balls too, because my kiddos would love them.
