Conduit - Can Do It!

I got payed a lovely compliment from a friend last week. She called me a conduit. Instantly, I loved what I thought the word meant but wanted to look up expanded definitions:

1. A pipe or channel for conveying fluids, such as water. (I do have fluids..... )
2. A tube or duct for enclosing electric wires or cable. (I do not have a desire to be electrified... )

Hmmmmm.......that couldn't be right, so let's try again.....

1. A means by which something is transmitted
2. To contribute or lead to a specific result
3. Contribute to the progress or growth of

Much better! I love to encourage others. I love hearing all their "crazy, far-fetched" ideas and being a cheerleader for them. I see a lot of times where a person has no one in their court. No one believing in them. This is disappointing to hear about and devastating to the person. I pride myself in being a realist, so no, I won't tell you that you are going to be the next Bill Gates, but I will tell you that all things are possible. Working conditions are hard, family situations, unbearable at times. Are you there with a friendly ear, even if that's all you can do at the time?
Are there people in your life that you could contribute to the progress or growth of? Am I transmitting something positive that may influence my child, husband, friend, etc. that will stay with them for a lifetime? Join me in getting out the pom pom's and giving out a big cheer: Go Team!

Loved this over at Christine's blog:
If you planted hope today in any hopeless heart. If someones burden was lighter, because you did your part. If you caused a laugh ,that chased some tears away. If tonight your name is named, when someone kneels to pray. Than your day has been well spent.....Author Unknown

How beautifully said. Although I was never a cheerleader, I try to encourage all those around me to reach for the stars, make the effort and follow their dreams.

Your post was lovely. It's early morning here and I already feel encouraged and more positive.

Love this post!

I try to be a cheerleader to all. Sometimes I'm not as good at it as I'd like to be and other times I'm rewarded with a smile and "thanks". But I don't do it for that. I do it because I know how much it has meant to me when someone has been my cheerleader. I'm so thankful for those people who lift me up and try to do the same for them.

What a beautiful compliment! Taking time out for others is a critical characteristic of a Christian. Life can move you in so many directions, that it's easy to become consumed with your own situation and forget about others.

Thanks for reminding me of what matters.

Great post.

That is a cool compliment and even more meaningful because it is such a unique way to say you are inspiring. I hope I can be a conduit for creativity in my children.

Well I don't know you IRL, but I can say that from what I have seen of you on here...I would tend to agree with that amazing compliment. That is a great quote at the end as well...made me stop, re-read and think...thank you!

I would love to read the book you mentioned over at my place...if you don't mind.

Was good to "hear" from you today..and I pray your Monday is full of His grace!
Hugs,
Bina

What an awesome comment! Being there for someone is so special and lifts them up to achieve even greater things from our kids right down to our friends. Honesty plays such an important part too. A beautiful, inspirational post..love it!

I've never been a very good cheerleader. I'm more the peacemaker type. I try to keep everyone happy...which can be exhausting at times! Everyone needs a cheerleader in her life.

Love that idea! When we're given a blessing then we need let it flow through our fingers and out of our hearts so that we can bless others in return!

The ability to readily encourage people is a gift straight from God. :)

And yes, you never know what your writing will be for someone else. Agatha Christie openly assumed that her work would be of no value in following generations.
How wrong she was.

Conduit--lovely concept! Just think how positive and encouraging your kids will be when they're older. Nice!

Oh, my, I read this too late. Just ticked hubby off about something important to him. Really wish I had done my blog roll earlier to get the nice person fixed in place for his arrival home.

Good for you, for being a conduit. After spending my childhood around many negative people, I vowed to grow up and offer encouragement and support to those around me. I hope I have.

That was uplifting! Thanx! I really needed it.

That is probably the best compliment ever!!!! Wow! I would love to be referred to that as well...it reminds me of II Timothy 2:21...regarding "...being a vessel of honor, set apart and useful for the Master prepared for every good work."
A conduit, God knows He can place something inside of you and it will go through you to benefit someone else. I love it! Thanks for the encouraging words that you left on my blog as well!

Eileen-I need to remind myself everyday with my husband. It's so easy to be my ugliest with him.

What a wonderful and inspirational post! I think it's easy to get caught up in our daily stress and forget that sometimes even a smile can make someone's day. I always get that warm, fuzzy feeling when I know I've made someone feel better. Thank you for the reminder.
