The One Thing

Many will be surprised to know that I have had a cosmetic procedure of sorts done.Growing up, nothing would make me cringe more than the thought of swimming. I can swim. I even took the Red Cross classes in freezing cold water. I enjoy swimming.... a lot. However, the problem for me arises being a woman, and having to shave to wear a bathing suit. Men are so lucky... but I digress. I'll blame it on being half Italian. Oh Diane, your hair is so thick and beautiful...... are you following where I'm going with this? I would shave and then EACH AND EVERY hair that was attempting to grow back in would produce a red, ugly sore bump. Each one. Very painful.... very ugly. So, that was it, shave one time, pay the price for weeks. Finally, at age 34 I went and had laser hair removal and wallahhh! They are gone! It is a miracle. I had it done before it was the "it" thing and they jacked up the prices. It was painful for a short time and now, at a moments notice I am ready to swim. Go ahead and ask me.... swim?.... Oh sure I'd love to, I just have to throw on my suit and I'm ready to go.

This one thing in my life turned dread and pain into happiness and confidence. So I ask you, what is the one thing you would do if money or being self conscious was not an obstacle? What is the one thing that you would like to alter or change about you?

Like Hilary, only ONE? Well, right now I'd love to go to a spa where all the proper food is fixed to help me lose weight. Oh, and I guess they could add an physical trainer for exercise, I guess..... :)

Well, congrats for you!

For me?? I would...lose the desire for junk food. I know, that is like praying to be able to fly, but...*sigh*

Hugs to you today!

I, too, paid for this, but only three treatments worth so I'm more normal than yeti now, but not swim worthy at all times! ;p

However, for anyone reading this and wondering how to avoid the bikini razor burn, there is a trick I heard that really works. After you get out of the shower, post-shaving, use your solid deodorant stick on the area. Presto! Bumps never appear!

for me... it would be...mmm... some plastic surgery on the girls.. not to make them bigger.. nope could careless bout that.. just.. mmmm give them a trip back north :o) like when I was 16...

I am lucky in the shaving dept.. being fair skinned with red hair that is very faint I've been lucky in that regard... but I've also heard and its a take your breath away for a second kind of thing but after shaving, but some rubbing alcohol on your palms and apply to bikini area after shaving... it has worked for me to avoid the red bumps...and yes it stings for a moment or two...

That's great. I had a friend who had that done and said it was excruciating. Said it was numerous treatments, like being poked really hard with a needle over and over and over and over...

Congrats! I would love to try it too.

I have a big list. I have to get rid of my gray one day :)

Good question... It would probably be either some way to banish dark circles from under my eye (that stand out more to me than anyone else I guess) or my vision. I hate having to shave to wear a swimsuit too!

So laser really works!? I could think of a long list of things I would like to change about myself... unfortunately, I can't alter my genetic makeup so I might as well not even go there.

I agree with some of the other comments...only one? I have a good friend who longs for a "boob job", and I told her I would gladly hand over some of my ample excess. Hair on the other hand...much easier to deal with! :)

I think it's great you had the laser surgery and are feeling terrific. If I could wish my stomach away, then that's what I'd like to disappear. Now that I'm older, it just puffs up all the time.

Oh it would be a tummy tuck..no matter how many crunches..stretch mark creams and Im still not happy about it. I have a friend who had her's done and she is back to wearing a bikini!

It was hard to come up with just one, but I wanted it to be a realistice "one". Don't fret, my list is much longer than this.

It really did work and the pain was intense but very temporary, like 10 minutes worth. It went away quickly.
