Stuck in a Rut

Once upon a time there was a little bulldozer. Bulldozer did lots and lots of hard work. He worked so much and so hard that one day he got stuck in a rut. Uh oh! What can we do to help him get out of the hole he was in?

Here is the GIANT tow truck that was sent to get said bulldozer out of it's rut.....

The two men that were sent tried different angles and really had to redirect with much effort to get bulldozer out of his dark hole. His tread just kept spinning and spinning in its same old pattern, almost making the pit deeper.

Then finally, he was free!

So I ask you, my little bulldozer friends, are there areas of your life where you are stuck in a rut? It's so easy to work so hard and have life circumstances go on for years and years, that finally when the day of liberation out of that hole comes, we are hesitant.... almost setting ourselves up to fall back into that pitfall again? When the opportunity comes for you to get out that rut, don't set yourself up to fall back in again. Back up a little, examine your circumstances and make a new path into a different mindset.

For all you Matrix fans out there....."Free your mind Neo."

What a creative and deep, thought provoking post. I am navigating out of that rut into a great adventure as we speak/write.

I love this analogy. The rut has taken so many shapes in my life. I am learning that there is no time like Today than to get up and give it another try.

Life is too short to watch from the sidelines.

Have a great weekend!

Oh yes, I've been in a rut with my wip for about a month. I'm close to breaking free though... :-)

Ah, the little bulldozer that could. Love the comparison to us. I think it's easier to stay in a rut and complain than venture into the new.

Good post

Good Post, very well said.

I think life can be a rut. I mean- most people go to work, come home, watch some tv, hang with friends blah blah... I know my life can be ruttish (not a word) but that's when you push through and find something that makes you happy, if not, it gets too comfortable and predictable- like a crappy novel you just can't get out of.

I for one embrace getting out of the rut. I'm ready at all times!

Ah, Diane...I thank YOU for your thoughtfulness and your willingness to find truth in the simplicity of life.

Thank you for this...and for the smile that jumped to my face at the mention of Neo. :)

Hugs to you today,
Bina

wow great post. I feel like the little engine that could most of the time, but was in that rut a couple of weeks ago! I needed a couple of tow trucks to get me out. Thanks bloggers & friends! I couldnt do it without you all!

I love the analogy because one would think a bulldozer is invincible, and able to get itself out of a rut. Just goes to show, we need everyone needs a little help every now and then!

I'm afraid I'll need a much bigger tow truck than that to get my bahonkus out of its rut right now. Most of the "hole" is caused by immovable circumstances. Just looking forward to the future and hanging on til then. :)

I often feel I'm stuck in a rut. I've decided not to worry about it too much - there is really not much I can do about it (work etc) at the moment.

Sorry to hear you were sick on this beautiful day - hope you feel better soon!

Ahhh, this reminds me of the time when the sewers were being re-done in our neighborhood. Don't remember if it was a bulldozer, or not, but some big machine was left near the edge of a big hole overnight. And it rained.
I mean REALLY rained.
And that hole got a little bigger. And that big machine slipped right down into the hole.
Took quite a bit of pulling, but they did eventually free it.

This was a clever analogy. I enjoyed reading it!
