Things I Noted Whilest I Was Sick

Last week, not a fun week.

Rampant sickness that ended for me in a double ear infection with a sinus infection sprinkled on top.

Always trying to see the bright side in things, I made some keen observations on what full blown-out sickness means to me.
1. Any type of special hygiene options you were working on are immediately thrown out the window. Cracked heels, facial scrubbing, shaving the legs (oh yes that's me), those luxuries are the first casualties and any ground you may have gained on them is lost and then some.

2. Asking for help... I am literally unable to open my eyes, raise my head or stop profusely sweating and yet when a friend or relative calls to ask what I need, "Oh, no, don't worry about me, I'm fine". Pride does not taste good on any given day, much less with a mouthful of germs to swish around with it.3. The laundry! Many other household jobs will fall to my left and right, but somehow the mound must be beaten down. Needing fresh sheets and pajamas are just a necessity

4. And finally, I swear this is the truth, "I was going to start tomorrow". The last thing I said before I took the downward spiral. I swore this was going to be the day I started exercising and would have exhibited all kinds of self-control and discipline unknown to the common man. Obviously, didn't happen. I can feel the mental taunts now, "Ha ha, better luck next time!"

I am having those same issues, but without the ear and sinus infection. Ha! HA! I keep thinking I will show the best self discipline ever...tomorrow. Hope you feel better soon.

hope your on the mend... I hate being sick, just hate it.. and the worst times are when your running such a fever that each time you get up to go potty... the sheets have grown cold where you sweated on them...

Oh, no! Double ear infection too!

I'm the same way with asking for help. Pride gets in my way and bites me in the butt every time.

I feel for you! Being sick sucks! Weirdly, however, I like to keep up with my grooming even when I am half dead with the flu or similar - it makes me feel better about myself, even though it takes some extra effort.

Get better soon!

I had a terrible ear infection earlier in the year, I thought I was on my way to see Jesus!

I pray you get to feeling better soon. Tomorrow will be better.

Oh, hope you're feeling better Diane! It's tough to be out of commission! I hate when that happens! Thank goodness for our family, that they can step up during those times and help us!

OMG...I hope you start to feel better soon! All this will be a mere memory..all be it not a pleasant one...when you are back on your feet, doing the laundry, shaving the legs and in general doing all the self improvement promised! It's the absolute pits being sick!

Diane-
Ugh...I can relate to your pictures. When I get sick, my hair is so dirty by the time I feel better, I could provide enough oil for 3 cars!
Feel better. The laundry will be waiting :-)

Poor thing! I hope you're feeling better. I can relate to your list. Last week, I got a migraine--really bad. The house was destroyed with half-finished laundry everywhere. Awful!

Oh I am sorry you aren't feeling well. That's terrible. Be sure to ask for some health next time. Doesn't sound like you should be up washing sheets and PJs.

I know exactly what you mean about things going to the wayside as soon as you commit to doing them.

Get well soon.

I hope you are on the mend!!! At least you have an excuse for the mounds of laundry...perhaps I'll use that one too. Wait, isn't true, so I guess I can't. Good luck at catching up!

I feel your germ speckled pain! I went from losing my voice, to finally getting it back just in time to have 1 kid get sick, then the 2nd child too... all of those things on the "to do list" went down the drain! I hope you are rested and feeling 100% better soon!

oh! I am the same way about help-won't ask for it or if asked I say "i'm fine!"

One time I did that years ago and my fever shot to 104 - gawd I was sick - luckily my friend called again to check on me - I was a bit dilerious - was talking to my brother who had passed away recently....

FEEL BETTER AND STRONGER!

OH gosh, that sucks. I haven't been sick like that for a while...a couple of years. And when I was, it only lasted 24 hours. But I always have the thought, "Well, at least I've lost weight." It's, of course, weight I gain right back as soon as I can eat again!
